MANILA – (AP) A women’s monthly magazine covering women’s issues is being bought by an online retailer for $300 million in the latest acquisition of a women’s rights magazine.
The Los Angeles-based publisher of the Women’s Magazine, which is part of the Forbes Women’s 400 list, has said it wants to expand the magazine’s reach into more regions and create more local titles.
The publisher’s new acquisition will help expand the women in leadership space and expand the reach of the magazine in regions that have been underserved, the magazine said.
It will also provide more local women with the resources to promote and advocate for their voices in the media, it said.
The Women’s Journalist’s Club, which has existed in the United States since 1953, will continue to be funded and managed by the magazine, it added.
The women’s business magazine has been one of the most influential women’s publications in the U.S. for more than 30 years.
The magazine has become a hub for women’s activism and the voices of those women have been a constant presence in the industry.
Women’s leaders from around the world have spoken at the magazine about issues such as sexual harassment and the dangers of a patriarchal workplace.
