A 14-year-old boy has been charged with assaulting a woman’s daughter after she tried to intervene during a fight.
The girl, who is 14 years old, told police she and her mother were arguing with a group of boys on April 1.
When she intervened, the group started throwing punches at the girl, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The teen then allegedly grabbed the girl by the hair and punched her face, causing her to fall to the ground.
The girl ran away and called 911.
The affidavit says the teen told police that when he returned home, he found the girl unconscious and bleeding on the ground, but no one had arrived to assist her.
The teenager said he went to the girl’s house to get her medical care and called his mother and brother, but he was told to leave the area.
The 14-yr-old was charged with felony battery and resisting arrest without violence.
The suspect is currently being held in the Marion County Jail.
